School Information
The school has been established in the memory of Late Smt. Jankidevi who took Samadhi on 31st January, 1999 at the age of 104 years. Jankidevi Public School is located amidst the relatively serene precincts of 4 Bungalows, Andheri(W), Mumbai 400053. Jankidevi Public School emphasizes activity based learning and builds close relationships between the school, students and parents. Jankidevi Public School tries hard to build in its students individual competence along with making them compassionate. The school sincerely attempts to ensure security and safety of its students at all times. Classes are even monitored with the help of CCTVs. At beginner-level, we attempt to maintain a teacher:student ratio of 1:10 for Playgroups; 1:16 for Nursery and 1:18 for Kindergarden, with one helper/attendant for each class. Class rooms of tiny tots are equipped with a large variety of educational toys, puzzles and musical instruments to promote creative self-learning. For the Pre-primary section we have a specially designed library and computer room. Field trips are regularly arranged to promote learning through seeing. Special days are traditionally celebrated for the children to develop a healthy respect for their cultural heritage. A large number of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are carried out besides offering a large spectrum of subjects. The School Committee offers its students a state-of-the-art turf ground to promote potential sportsmen and women of our school. Jankidevi Public School has a highly competent staff strength, supervisors, educational consultant etc. all of whom are guided by an Academic Council and Principal besides the Director of Education. In 2011, our first batch of class X students appeared for the ICSE Board Exams.
Mission
Jankidevi Public School’s primary mission is to produce good and virtuous citizens to enable a human-centric intelligent society. We endeavour to formulate the persona of the students by providing holistic education, including an integrated multidisciplinary curriculum comprising facts, skills, physical discipline, music and art.
Philosophy
Jankidevi Public School has carved a niche for itself with a succinct philosophy “Think big, think different, think ahead and aim for the best.” Children learn best with freedom from coercion. The pedagogical process is framed keeping in mind its utilitarian and moral function which encourages not just the acquisition of knowledge but also promotes independent, creative and analytical thinking.
Aims
We at Jankidevi Public School aim to develop young people into free, intelligent, emotionally integrated, morally strong, scientifically tempered and healthy young men and women of tomorrow. In short, we aim at proper integration and harmony between feeling, thinking and doing. Our special emphasis is to generate interest which is the best stimulus for learning rather than external motivation such as grades. We aim at a spiral curriculum which posits the idea that a curriculum should revisit basic ideas, build on them until the student has grasped the full formal concept.
